it fits

I took out my dress that I wore on our wedding day 5yrs ago for 2 reasons: 1. to try it on for kicks and giggles and 2. to take it out of the preservation box to fluff and refold and create new creases. Suppose to do this every 5yrs we'll see if I can fit into it in another 5yrs. One can always have a goal right?

So if anything 5yrs later I didn't require any undergarment holder inner thingy and if I were to wear it again now more than just in my parents basement I would require alterations (this dress was straight off the rack no alterations, nothing) in the shirt area, dang pumping (I love you Ian).

5yrs later Aug 12 2011

It feels good to say that after 5yrs and a child I can still fit into my wedding dress with some room to spare. But it's never to soon to start prepping for the 10yr fitting, I'm off to count some calories...umm yeah I just wrote this while eating chips ahoy cookies and we won't talk about the fact that I had pizza for dinner and also nieman marcus cake for dessert at my aunts. Maybe we'll start counting tomorrow, it's a new day or maybe I'll start on Monday, Monday's are good days to start something. Off to stuff my face some more since calorie counting doesn't start till tomorrow or Monday or whenever I decide to get back on track.

Jeans

Thanks to Crowdtap I got to sample Old Navy jeans and boy did I sample I think I tried on about 6 different pairs 3 different times the poor fitting room attendant.  What I found when tyring on was that a size 8 fit the same as a size 10 in the waist band area, can you say loaded with spandex??  I really liked these

But...I needed long inseam and they only carry long or petite inseams online and my coupon for a sample was for in-store use only so I stepped out of my jean comfort box of bootcut and flares and got:

SKINNY JEANS

For the sole purpose of in the winter not having to stuff a bootcut or flare into my boots this afternoon I tested a winter errand running look out.  No I didn't go out into public to test it just to our spare bedroom that doesn't have a bed...yet.

BC

Last August Kaley put her status as "who wants to be in a book club" or something like that.  And wouldn't you know she got responses from 9 other book geeks who we are all in our 20/early 30 somethings.  We get together once a month usually on the 1st Tuesday of each month to eat dinner, drink wine and relive the pages of the book that was choosen and catch up on our lives from the previous month overall good therapy happens during that time.

We started off with The Help by Kathryn Stockett:

Here is the synopsis from Kathryn's website:
Three ordinary women are about to take one extraordinary step.

Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just returned home after graduating from Ole Miss. She may have a degree, but it is 1962, Mississippi, and her mother will not be happy till Skeeter has a ring on her finger. Skeeter would normally find solace with her beloved maid Constantine, the woman who raised her, but Constantine has disappeared and no one will tell Skeeter where she has gone.

Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way. She is devoted to the little girl she looks after, though she knows both their hearts may be broken.

Minny, Aibileen's best friend, is short, fat, and perhaps the sassiest woman in Mississippi. She can cook like nobody's business, but she can't mind her tongue, so she's lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation. But her new boss has secrets of her own.

Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk. And why? Because they are suffocating within the lines that define their town and their times. And sometimes lines are made to be crossed.

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women--mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends--view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

I loved reading the book and wouldn't you know they made it into a movie that opened today.  I am so looking forward to seeing this movie.  I've already prepared myself to know that there will be some differences between the book and movie but that still doesn't stop me from wanting to see it.

August List

Although we are already 10 days into this new month I still feel I should toss some goals up.  As I like lists but what I like more about lists is being able to cross things off my list.  I'm known for making a list and if I do something not on my list I add it to the list just so I can cross it off.

1. tuck both vehicles into garage at night--> we got one in as of last night.

2. get color painted on the walls

3. get pictures hung on the walls

4. decorate guest bedroom

5. get better with couponing, I coupon but I really think I could do better.

6. get into a nice weekly routine of having an errand running day and a stay at home day, one would think that by now I would have been in this routine but since the move the word routine has been boxed up.

7. budget...budget...budget

8. dive a little deeper into paleo eating, I have breakfast nailed down and lunch somewhat.

9. go through everything we moved into the basement and figure where it needs to go, I have a feeling this one will be on the list for a while. Maybe I'll find our routine down there

10. get some quality family of 3 time in

11. get a post up about the books i've been reading.

There it is the official list for August, I may add more on the follow up post but for now this is it.
