Dear Husband,
I know you LOVE to LOVE Christmas as you have been listening to it at night as you fall asleep since late October. And I too enjoy Christmas music but not before Thanksgiving. So I have a compromise to offer to you, you listen to your Christmas music as much as you want at a reasonable volume by reasonable I mean so that I can't hear playing when I'm in any other room in the house except the bedroom and even then it should be just a faint sound. Agree? Agree!! Fabulous!

Smile
A couple weeks ago we met up with our photographer from Knox Photography for 5yr anniversary, family and 18mos photos. We of course had a great time, we went to the school area that is right near our house where there is a Prairie and served as a great background. I also wanted to get some of Ian on the playground since he is after all a 18mo old boy who doesn't spend his days wearing white linen pants or white button down shirts.

In the past...
5yrs we have:
Become homeowners x2
Become landlords
Become dog parents x2
Become human parents to the most adorable little boy who has us wrapped around his little finger
Have had our ups and downs
Have gained and lost the same 5lbs, *happy to report for myself I weigh less than I did on this day 5yrs ago. Trying on wedding dress tonight!
Been able to go on some great vacations, that make up for our not so good honeymoon
Survived finishing college, fire academy, work related classes, DIY projects and much more
It's been a great 5yrs and looking forward to about 50 more!

we're D.O.N.E
On Sunday we handed the keys to our first home over to our first ever renter. The house in which we made our own and poured tons of sweat, money, time, energy, and frustrations into. It was where A LOT of 1st happened for us and it was hard to hand those keys over. The past month has not been easy by any means. Marcus coming home from work to change clothes say Hi/Bye and out the door till at least 1a if not later. To wake up and do the jobby job and repeat all over again. There was resentment on both ends, both of us feeling like we each did it ALL and the other did nothing. We have had little to no time together as a couple in the past oh 60 days or so. And after looking at our August calendar maybe we will shoot for a date night in September. Although I guess this past Saturday we did have a date day if you count painting, weeding, and cleaning from 10a Sat-5a Sun. as a date then yes we have had time together as a couple.
Since July 5th(ish) the following happened at the rental house:
-Bathroom gutted, new drywall installed, tile tub surround installed, new light fixture installed
-drywall ceiling hung and finished off in basement
-trim installed in the bedroom #1 and basement
-carpets cleaned
-all rooms, ceilings, and trim painted "rental" white (thanks Daddy Jim)
-flower beds weeded, mulched down (thanks Mom)
-stairs going down to basement painted
-flooring replaced at the back door enterance
-ceiling fans replaced (with cheaper ones so we could put the pricer ones at our house) in kitchen and bedroom #1
I'm hopeful we have a good renter and that he will take care of it. I'm going with no news is good news, although he did call today and to say I didn't cringe and ignore the phone call would be a lie. But alas he was calling to confirm we had received his rent check from his company. I made sure all was well and that he and his dog were both happy. And they are so YAY!!
We completed all that work in time for my SIL and her hubby to come up from Indy to help work on our new house. They have some big ideas, the ladies will be inside painting while the boys play in the dirt possibly with heavy machinary. This weekend we will hopefully tackle the organization of the garage in hopes of parking our cars in it.

lately...
Oh my goodness I feel like it's been so long since my last post. But in fact a lot has just happened since june 30th and our plate is FULL right now. So let's catch up:
1. Rental House (aka our 1st home): put a For Rent sign in front yard on June 14th and took it out of the front yard on July 5th. During those 3 weeks, I had 60+ phone calls, scheduled 20+ showings, and had 4 apps. Needless to say I'm beyond thrilled to say we have a renter, not sure which I'm more excited about having a renter or having my phone number no longer on the front lawn. It's a tie I do beleive. Renter moves in Aug 1st. it's single guy (he has a girlfriend, sorry single ladies out there) with a dog. To say I'm not nervous I would be lying. I mean this guy we really don't know him that well, we know his crimnal record is clean, his finicial history is clean but is he clean person as in does he clean the bathroom every week, mop the floors every week, etc. Let's face it our blood, sweat and swear words are all over that house. He better take care it!
2. We are in our new house and I have yet to make it to work on time since we moved. I still don't feel I have found the right routine yet to have smooth morning. It will come just hopefully sooner rather than later. Paint colors have been choosen for the kitchen, Ian's room, and both bathrooms. So that just leaves the living room/hallway, our room and back bedroom. The other night I took down the wallpaper in the half bath and came to the conclusion that the previous owner over paid her handyman by a lot. Not only are the walls a mess but the medicines cabinets in both bathrooms have parts that were put on upside down. And in the case of the half bath the cabinet was installed upside down. Back to the house, painting is put on hold there until the rental is up to par.
3. Back to the rental. With renters comes gray areas when it comes to the initial walk thru and final walk thru. Marcus wants to eliminate as many gray area as possible. So all walls and ceilings are painted white, bathroom has been gutted new drywall has been hung, ceramic tile is going in tub surround area, carpets need cleaned and depending on how that goes maybe replaced, Marcus is hanging a drywall ceiling in basement and then the basement has to be painted. Once this is all done the entire houss will need a good cleaning.
Here's what's left to do on our list that we have a less than a month to complete:
1. paint master bed, bath, hallway, kitchen, and basement (notice living room and bedroom #2 aren't on list those rooms got tackled this weekend)
2. paint all trim
3. paint all exterior trim
4. tile bathroom tub surround
5. hang drywall ceiling in basement
6. clean
7. clean carpets, possibly replace
8. hang new ceiling fan in kitchen
9. paint cabinets (this project is halfway done at this point and will be over halfway done by tomorrow)
10. landscape enhancing
My eyes just crossed I think, that is a lot to do and in fact Marcus is staying home from vacay this month to get it finished. It's not what he wants to do but it's one of those adult decision and one of us has to be responsible. So tomorrow Ian and I will load up the car and head up north to my parents place to be with them and my sister. We will then head even further north to Mackinac Island. Sad Marcus isn't able to join us but having 4 days off with no interuppetions from anagging loving wife or a clingy snuggly 18mo old a lot should get done assuming no issues come about. So till the next time...Oh geez I still have to finish vacay part 2. Plus cute Ian stuff.
*Disclaimer I use the term WE very very loosely.

5yrs.
5yrs ago this month we purchased our 1st house and to say that was scary would have been a huge understatement. I think I'm good at buying things and but I'm really good at having buyers remorse and returning them. However I don't think the bank, seller or title company would have understood "after 30 days we don't think this is the right house, can we exchange for a different one?" So, we said when we bought the house that this was out 5yr house. Well, since we don't have a crystal ball and can't predict that the housing market would crash and the chances of getting what A) what we put into the house (new flooring, kitchen sink/counter, partially finished basement, new bathroom, new garage door, and the list goes on) or even B) we paid for out it back out of it. We came to terms that we would be in our house for another couple years and that would be fine. That does mean expanding our family beyond 3 is also on hold (for those of you who have been thinking it's time for us to become a family 4).
Now, this all doesn't mean that we don't talk about what we want in our next house by any means. We both have wish lists and as usual mine is longer:) We are both willing to compromise in some areas and others absolutely no compromising what so ever, don't even try to touch the school district, garage, more square footage or bathroom those are non-negotiable.
Mine:
2 baths or more
attached 2 car garage
3-4 bedrooms
different school district
more cabinet/counter space in kitchen
bigger and more closets
in-ground pool
more square footage over all
open floor plan
Marcus:
brick ranch
different school district
more square footage
2 baths
pool or hot tub
good size yard
When we talk about square footage our dreams aren't too big as of right now we live in 790sq ft, yep 790 we are talking the size of a cracker box here folks. So even 1000 is more than what we have. We have learned to adapt and host parties/gatherings at my parents house. So I guess when it comes to square footage we would like enough room to entertain without guests feeling like they are packed in like sardines. We would like our next house to be our forever house so enough room to raise children in comfortably and then become **cough cough** empty nester's without feeling like we are surrounded by a ton of space that we now have to manage all on our own as our children will have chores while under our roof. Some day our wish will come true we just don't know exactly when till then we will have monthly goodwill purge sessions to avoid being labeled hoarders.
Happy 5yrs of homeownership!!

sleep over
This past weekend was the only weekend Marcus didn't have fire academy or the bank. And my dad was on his four day with no plans to go out of town. So we took advantage of this rare occasion and Ian made a reservation to stay Saturday night with his Grammie and Papa Jim. Marcus are I were able to have our 1st ever day and night date.
Ian's Weekend:
I dropped Ian off Saturday morning at my parents where they had a big day planned for him. We went over bedtime routine, any bumps, bruises, scraps that occurred prior to arrival so they wouldn't be concerned that he acquired those while in their care. And I swear he only stayed about 24hrs yet I packed 3 bags for him. A food bag, clothing bag and a bag we were returning so I decided to use it to carry his blanket and monitor in.
They had lunch at house before their big adventurous day that included:, tool show, diaper shower for baby Jackson, dinner with Brian (a former ND student fire station live-in) and his girlfriend, bath and bed. Napping was also in the above mix. I think the above events assisted in Ian sleeping from 8:50p to 9:10a so I say SUCCESS and we will have to do that again.
Date day and night: after Ian dropped off, I came home and Marcus had showered we got the GPS ready to go and we were off to Ikea in Chicago and dinner. It was Marcus' 1st trip the store that someone could easily spend an entire day in. We made a few purchases and then headed across the street to the mall where we would indulge in the Cheesecake Factory and then we drove home where we got to sleep ALL night long. And aside from the dogs doing the potty dance in the AM we got to sleep in.
We agreed that we will have a to make a point to try to do sleepovers for Ian at least once a month. It's good for him and us and his grandparents love lil overnight guests.

back to when it all started
It's really a quite short story. Marcus and I meet at church youth group (yg) and 10yrs ago today we went on our 1st date. We went and saw the movie Remember the Titans and then dinner at Steak n' Shake. We meet at church, and were very active in the youth group (yg). No one in yg knew we were going on a date so we show up at the movie theather and who do we sit next too? Two girls from YG with their mom. And who is sitting in the row in front of us? Two guys and their dad's. So the girls thought we were there meeting the guys and the guys thought we were meeting the girls. Gah...too funny, they figured it out by Sunday though.
Anyways, the story starts and stops there (pretty boring). Marcus was my 1st and last 1st date. We had our moments of ups and downs and questioning of what we wanted. But, I knew from that 1st date that I was going to marry him. Soon after we started dating Marcus started going bald, I don't believe the two go hand in hand at all I blame genectics entirely.
I would post a picture of use back then but they are all packed far far away. So here's a picture of us now. Just photo shop some weight off and add hair to Marcus' head and viola that's us 10yrs ago.

weekend wrap up
I have yet to document Marcus' birthday or Mother's Day so on this hot and humid day I will do so.
Marcus' Birthday:
We started celebrating Friday evening with dinner and cupcakes at my parents while there I got Ian's present for him to give to Marcus which he gave to him wrapped in the comic section of the newspaper. He gave him a cake pan filled with flavor ice popsicles (Marcus' favorite and I had to steal them from my parents freezer since they are in-season at Sam's Club just yet). Saturday morning Ian gave Marcus his present, I made french toast and then we hung out at home the rest of the day, took a nap and then headed to Cosmo's Susies's for some yummy pizza with his parents and uncle. From there we headed to my in-laws to indulge in everything we shouldn't indulge in: cake, cheesecake and ice cream. Oh my goodness it was all very good and we continued to eat the cup cakes, cheesecake, and cake all week long. Marcus enjoyed his day and enjoyed staying home not having to do anything or go really anywhere.
Mother's Day:
No sleeping in for this momma which is fine because I'd be afraid if I did I would be capable of spraying milk and we can't risk losing any of the good stuff. Marcus got up made omeletts for breakfast. I had mentioned throughout the week that I wanted us to go to the riverwalk for a nice family walk and then go grocery shopping (yes i wanted to go grocery shopping) we use to go together when we were first married and I enjoyed having a human calculator with me. So Sunday morning I still had no idea what was on the docket for the day. After breakfast Marcus got in the shower and ready to go I took note to what he was wearing and what shoes he wore which told me how I needed to dress. I then showered and texted with my sis for a while getting her opinion on my wardrobe. We feed Ian, I pumped and we were soon walking out the door with me still not knowing what was happening. I mentioned once in the car that I didn't bring a bottle for Ian (I know you're thinking you left the house without a bottle, yes we left the house without a bottle). Marcus told me to close my eyes and he would let me know when I could open them, well I'm really bad with directions so the eyes would randomly open. We were headed to the outlets, I was instructed to buy until Marcus said stop, easy enough right? Well, not so much I'm so accostumed to watching how much I spend on things and talking myself out of things it was tough to go in the complete opposite direction. Gap had some great deals as well as Coach and Gymboree (had to get something for the lil guy) . Ian started revolting while I was in line at Coach so we headed to the car did a diaper change on him and when I went to put him back in the stroller he started revolting again can you blame him though he had been in his carseat for a long time and just wanted to be held so we carried him to Old Navy and then didn't want to risk it any longer without a bottle and headed home. We got carry out and watched a movie. It was a great 1st Mother's Day.
Now it's onto brainstorming for father's day....

catch up
Catch Up, randomness style
-this will be Ian's last week of staying with strictly family before he heads back to outside childcare. After some searching and recommendations we are going with a lady named Michele she was state licensed for 18yrs has been in the kiddo care business for over 20yrs. A few years ago she gave up her license so she could spend mroe time with the kids and downsize. Ian will be hanging out there 2 days a week.
-Summer is approaching and we have some exciting stuff to look forward. Aunt CiCi will be coming up the 1st weekend in June to run the 1/2 marathon with me, go to her 10yr class reunion, introduce Ian to a big bathtub (aka a pool), head up to our parents summer place, and my birthday. Wow that makes it sound like she'll be here for 2wks but really just 5 days, 5 jam packed days. We intend to make some weekend trips up to my parents place as well. And in August we'll be boarding a plane and heading to San Diego!!
-I have discovered my problem with work so now I'm trying to fix it.
-Ian has his 4mos check-up on Tuesday any guesses as to what his weight will be? 3wks ago he weighed in at 14lbs 11oz. He had more than doubled his weight.
- will are saying goodbye to this:

we sat down today and made our plan of attack so we don't receive anymore bills for that, should be gone in 7mos!!
-training for the 1/2 marathon is coming along very nicely, already my 5k time has improved. Altough I have no time goal for the 1/2 I just want to finish.
-the past couple weeks Ian and I have been able to meet up with some other mommas and their babies for a walk.

-the past couple weeks Ian and I have been able to meet up with some other mommas and their babies for a walk.

Mrs Green Thumb?
This weekend I went out to survey our landscaping or lack there of, take dead stuff off the plants and remove the dead plants.
When we bought our house almost 4yrs ago the city had a program that if you sent in a pic of the front of your home and a plan of what you would do if the city gave you $$ to make your yard "beautiful" they would either approve or deny the grant money to you. The list of eligible items was quite large ranging from flowers to weed killer (I just finished using the last bottle of weed killer this weekend). Well we apparently made our plan money worthy and for some reason they approved us (2yrs in a row) to have some $$ we purchased 8 plants, grass seed and weed killer. Once you are approved and make your purchases and "improvements" you send a after picture in. Well I hope they don't ask for a 4yrs later picture (I cannot find any of the pics as of right now) as only 2 of the 8 plants are still alive (I got a little over excited with the weed killer well just leave it at that) what does grace our flower beds are from my parents house (we did some splitting and transplanting of some hostas) and some peonies (which did not come from my parents but was rather an undercover transplanting job involving dark time a hooded sweatshirt, bucket and one of those little shovel things.)
I do want our landscaping to look nice hello curb appeal is necessary to sell a house (no, we are no where near ready to sell the house I can only wish) it's just going to require a lot of motivation, work, time and money. And the day those 4 things all line up will be a miracle. Until then we will work with what we have I mean the hostas have been there for about 3yrs and I've yet to kill them so that's a good sign I feel. I may be calling on a friend who works for a local event planning company as a florist and has and eye for this kind of stuff. It's simple, I need easy to care plants(meaning they require nothing of me).
There are certain things Marcus simply won't let me do, do to previous experiences gone wrong.
Example: there was a tree behind our house and it needed to be trimmed Marcus felt this was a task I could handle and so I was super excited to be handed a rather large pair of scissors things and trimmed the tree in only the areas I could reach meaning I left it looking very top heavy and uneven. So I forgot to step back and take a look at my work as I trimmed minor detail. Well, not so minor when Marcus then had to dig the tree up and toss it do to it's awful appearance.
Example #2 we had a row of about 4 lilac bushes and b/c of a tree in our yard they were not growing evenly and after the tree was removed by the power line trimming guys (they did such a horrible job of trimming the tree around the lines that they had to remove it at their expense before it fell on our garage) I felt it was time to give the lilac bushes a trim well fast forward to today we only have 1 small lilac bush remaining (it's still recovering from the trim that I did).
Who wants to hire me to trim some bushes?? This could be why I was always my dad's assistant (I picked up the trimmings) when it came to trimming the bushes or the fact that he used a chain saw thingy and there are very few power tools that I get along when turned on. Ask me to bring you a power tool no problem ask me to use it and that's where things get a little iffy.

theory
I have a theory that when I gave birth to Ian I also gave birth to a portion of my memory. Now, I can still remember the 400+ members names at Curves that come in everyday between the 2 facilities and I can tell you what shoes they wear, what their hubby's do, what kind of car they drive, and what their hobbies are but ask me to remember to do something and if I don't put it in my phone right then you can forget about. This week I've had 2 incidents that support this:
1. Sunday night we got home from Indy around 8 with a very hungry baby, got the important things out of the car, started a bottle and changed Ian. Feeding then began, Marcus un-packed his bags and took a shower but before he got in the shower he said the pack n'play is still in the back of your car and the hatch is opened. He said if you don't get to it let me know and I will go out and get it. I said ok as I gazingly looked at Ian as he sucked down the bottle. Then boom I went into get ready for the next day mood of thawing milk and making bottles, empty my suitcase, start Ian's laundry which I think I used our laundry detergent instead of his (he is still alive no weird rash or anything). I then got myself around for bed. Fast forward to 5a, let the dogs out and see that the hatch on my car is still open and the pack n play is still in there along with the stroller. Run out to get it and shut the hatch to have nice puddle of water (it rained the night before) land on the left side of my body (a few words naughty words fly out of my mouth). Put pack n' play in basement and start my day. We learned we live in a safe neighborhood and that the hatch when up will keep water out of the back of my car.
2. Last night I was making bottles and needed more milk so I went down to the basement to the deep freeze which only contains milk and I bring up 2 grocery bags worth of milk meaning 2 days worth of pumping. Thaw out the contents from 1 bag and place the other bag on the kitchen table. Fast forward to this AM and I let the dogs out again at 5a and put my hand on the kitchen table and it enters nice puddle of liquid. I left the bag of milk I brought up out all night long it was suppose to go in the freezer and apparently 1 of the bags has a leak and I found a good 5min worth of pumping sitting on my kitchen floor.
Lovely, luckily I've been able to laugh about these incidents that back my theory. I'm sure there are more incidents but if they haven't happened the past 72hrs you can forget about me remembering them.

up and coming
*2mos shots (I know I'm late in getting these this is the soonest they could get us in)
*a trip to goodwill, I transitioned my clothes this weekend out with the sweaters and in with the tank tops, shorts and skirts. Which also means goodwill is getting some great outdated stuff. Is it bad that I still have clothes from highschool? I can still fit into them they just aren't very fashionable anymore.
*Easter which means a trip down to Indy
*we will have a 3mos old living with us
*flowers and plants which I know really nothing about will be popping up
*work in SB is moving locations (we've been kicked out of our current location as they are probably going to demo it)
*1/2 marathon is just 11 short weeks away
*budget, Marcus and I will soon be sitting down and working out a budget so our debt can disappear and we can start saving a down payment for our next house
*now that spring has arrived, home improvement projects will be put back on the to do list.
Just a few of things that will be happening in the coming weeks. Some I look forward too while others I could pass on.

Ramblings
*Never thought I would have poop on my hand by yes it happened today I was changing Ian and he apparently wasn't done with his business when poop came flying out and my hand was there to catch it. Lovely, I laughed and said never thought I would hve that happen or even laugh about it.
*At bathtime normally when I put Ian in his tub he squirms and squeals a bit but not this time. I'd say he thoroughly enjoyed bathtime.
*I can't wait for some warmer weather. When I can slip on a pair of jeans, a shirt and a pair of sandals (not first w/o a pedi though)
*I love the 2 days where it's just Ian and me. Oh and when daddy comes home to join us for lunch.
*I find it funny that sometimes after Ian lets out a stinky (even though they don't stink they will eventually) he gets a big ole smile across his face.
*I have determined that it's a good sign you've been talking to customer service people to long when you call to update your hubby on the situation that instead of saying I love you at the end of the convo that you say thank you. oops sorry Marcus I do love you:)
*crockpots/slow cookers are 1 of the greatest inventions.
*The 1 thing I look forward too about the Sunday paper is the Target ad. I save it for last when I look through the ads. And on Monday's I can't wait to see the Martin's ad.
*Yikes we have yet to put a single picture of Ian around our house. Maybe this week yet.
*Health Insurance is a necessary evil...so annoyed.
*I have bangs!!!! YIKES what did I just do!

Nesting
Nesting was a prego symptom that I got but couldn't doing anything about due to bedrest. So needless to say our house is in need of a super cleaning spree. Marcus did a quick clean later in the day after I delivered as his sister and brother in-law were coming into town and staying at our house. And then on Saturday (New Year's Day) we hosted Christmas with his family and then we brought baby home and visitors came over so all we've done is spot clean. Now I've been thinking oh for about week that I should do this but I would much prefer if Marcus and I did it together as it seems things stay cleaner when we clean together. I think that is because we are both putting the time and effort into the cleaning process therefore we work harder at keeping things clean. Last night Marcus said you know what I think we should clean the house this weekend. I said "I was gonna say the samething" and then he said "now I don't just mean clean I mean really clean." It's great when we are both on the same page so I'm going to start today in the kitchen. Although I love when we team clean I don't want to spend our entire weekend married to our cleaning supplies. Let the cleaning spree begin:)

the other children
A week before we got married in aug 2006 marcus called me and told me to meet him at our house. I show up and he meets me outside and tells me to open the door I follow his instructions and out runs this:

This is Kota Dog her real name is Dakota she is beagle coonhound mix which means her sniffer is constantly going. She's a cuddler and loves herself a nice comfy bed. She only barks if someone walks by our house and she is outside she very rarely barks inside. She likes to go for car rides and go on walks. I started taking her running with me and she just doesn't have the concept to pace herself. She starts out super fast pulling me along and by mile 4 I'm practically dragging her home. One would think that she would remember how the run went the previous day and she wouldn't want to go the next but apparently she has short term memory loss. She was our only child up until Marcus' sister and brother in-law started fostering dogs in 2008 and we meet Lexus:

She is a 3yr old boxer mix who was found running around the Indy/Avon area with ouchies on her and super skinny. She was placed in a shelter and was there for 6 mos with no interest due to her being super scared of people then a rescue group adopted her before she was put to sleep and then she was placed at my sister in-laws for fostering. It was decided that she was abused and more than likely abused by a male as she is was very unsure of males. They brought her up with them one weekend and after seeing those sad eyes we couldn't let just anyone adopt her so we did. She quickly adjusted to life with us. At first she wouldn't put her tail up bu within a few days her tail was up and constantly wagging. She still scares easily and when she goes on runs with me if a male is across the street she wants out of the person site ASAP so I always hope we don't see any males at the beginning of our run cause that is quite the warm up. She never had issues with Marcus although she is without a doubt my dog. She's constantly under my foot and must know where I'm at at all times.
Lexus and Kota Dog get along really well together

They have become partners in crime as this was what we came home soon after bringing Lexus home lovely huh?

They have both adjusted well to having a baby in the house. Which I'm sure my in-laws are happy about cause that's where they would have probably gone if they couldn't adjust. Lexus gets up with me and waits with us in the living room while Ian has a bottle. If Ian is sleeping in the bassinet and he starts to cry they will go and check on him. It is really quite cute.

EDD
Today 1/25/10 is the estimated due date we were given back in June by our Dr's in which would we become a family of three. I can't imagine still being preggers. If he was still in me he probably would be a good 9 or 10lbs instead of 6 which means I would be absolutely huge and probably bored out of my mind as I would still be on bedrest. Although, Marcus would probably have the hat I was starting to crochet when my water broke but that's really about it. Marcus and I were talking about it yesterday on our way home from Indy and we both thought how crazy it would be if I was still pregnant and how stressful it would have been financially for me to be on bedrest. Theres pros and cons working for a small locally owned business con being ZERO benefits aside from a free gym membership. I'm so glad he came when he did. Yes, we had some very stressful days after delivery with not knowing when he would be able to come home, he is home now and thriving. Everything happens for a reason and I'm glad it does.

Road Tripper
We are getting ready for our first road trip and weekend getaway with Ian. We are headed down to Brownsburg which is a town west of Indy to visit Marcus' sister (Jennifer) and brother in-law (Grant). We were suppose to go down for Christmas but my docs put big red denied stamp on that idea so here we are a month later taking the trek down. I may end up having to us my dad's connection at Ryder Truck Rental and getting us a moving truck for the weekend. Ian may be little but he requires a lof of stuff.
Now some of you may be thinking you're leaving home and he's only 3wks old?? Yes, we are leaving home with a 3wk old and we neither one of us thought twice about. We knew we would do it eventually, and there's no time like the present. Just because we had a baby doesn't mean our lives as a family get put on hold. My parents followed the same policy, I wouldn't put it past them that they didn't go to my mom's 6wk check-up with the car loaded to head up to their place up north at Silver Lake as I was on the beach when I was 6wks old. And the only reason they probably waited the 6wks b/c back them doc's put some crazy discharge orders on new mommas (they weren't allowed to drive for 6wks) crazy! They also enrolled my sister in morning kindergarten so that way on Friday's they could hit the road by lunch time to get up north and start the weekend.
What do plan on doing while down there?? Well we plan on eating, sharing in good conversation, making fun of me, and we're going to check out the Children's Muesum I haven't been there since I was super duper little, and Marcus and his sister don't remember ever going. I was checking out their website yesterday and I'm pretty pumped. I'm not one for muesums I dislike all educational adventures, but give me something hands on and I'm all about it. Who knows this could be one of our new tradition that once a year on one of our many trips to the Indy area we go to the Children's Muesum.
