Catch up

Thought it was time to do a catch up random post of the happenings around the Z's household.

1. Marcus: fire academy is coming along we are coming to the end very soon. Right now he is working on trying to fit studying, station time, ER time, ambulance time, work and family time into the month of April.  We may need to re-introduce ourselves by the end of April.

2. House projects: in between all that Marcus has on his plate we also want to do a few things around the house.  We are quickly approaching being homeowners for 5yrs.  And 5yrs ago we said we would be out of this by now but then life happened and we are still here. Our short list includes: re-do cabinets (Marcus started this project yesterday and thanks to a small kitchen with not a lot of cabinets he is halfway done), siding house and garage, lay patio bricks in dirt area to create well a patio area, finish finishing off the basement with a ceiling and then maybe use said basement.

3. Me: Last year at this time I was training for a 1/2 marathon and I have to say I'm jealous of those who are training right now for the same race.  We are out of town reconnecting as a family during the race this year.  I would still like to train for something so I got a new pair of running shoes. Aren't they so cute?

Asics Gel Nimbus 10
So anyways with new running shoes I intend to hit the pavement on a more regular basis.  But with not having anything to train for and the weather being gross on a more consistent basis then pretty it's been way easier to stay inside and do workout videos.

5. Ian, in a couple days you will get an ALL Ian update.  But real quick, sleeping habits are improving if we don't look at the past 2 nights.  He is battling a drippy nose, hacking cough and loss of appetite (he has 15mos check-up tomorrow). He is if at all possible getting cuter and cuter everyday.  Our latest battle has been eating (having a loss of appetite does not help).  I really thought that the transition from baby food to big people food would have been a smooth one but I've been proven wrong. As much as it frustrates me I am so very thankful to have been blessed with Ian and I can't imagine our lives without him.

There you have it a quick random update from the Z household we are over and out till the next go around.

DST

Also known as daylight savings time. A time that the majority of the population in the great state of Indiana DISLIKE! I am one of them, I didn't like it before children and I dislike it even more now. As it is my child did not go to bed until around 9:30 and now this morning I'm going to have to go in and wake him and cause confusion to his little body. I will have to drive to work in darkness as just last week it was daylight on my drive in.  I will lose track of time and just like last night we will be eating dinner at 8 but really it's only 7 so that's ok right?

Now, I'm going to try to look for the good in all this time changing nonsense. Which is hard to do for a morning person. Holy cow I just called myself a morning person and I'm sure my parents just had a great chuckle too.  Hey, remember swim team days when you would be constantly calling my name telling me to get up??  Yeah, I don't miss jumping into a cold pool at 5:15 either or smelling like someone who bathed in cholorine although technically I spent more time in the pool than I did in the shower 2x a day for approx 2hrs each practice for about 3 months.  Yeah 2 showers a day in a locker can't cut through that smell at all.

And back on track...I might actually be able to start and finish my morning workout without any interruptions as Ian's lil body is all confused. The possibility of running as a family in the evening is more likely to happen. The time change means spring is coming, the trees are budding, and I see little green sprouts coming up from the flower things we planted last year at some point.  I should add I really know nothing or care to know anything about plant care inside or outside.  I want it to look nice without anything required of me.  I'm looking forward to warmer runs with Ian that can happen earlier in the day.  I currently have no races on the calendar as they aren't fitting into our schedules or budgets.  I may though train for a half just for the heck of it and run one on my own. Anyone wanna join me, we can even make it a stroller friendly run, and make our own t-shirts?!?!  I know all very enticing  reasons to join me!

Well I should probably end the rambling that this post has turned into right here and get back to the proposal on the Bachelor!

Because it's Friday

We mind as well go with an old fashion post of randoms.

*it has been bitterly cold here, and I'm over it.

*did a complete NoNo and cheated on my hairstylist and I'm paying for cheating. And taking my prenatal vits to increase hair growth.  It's not that I don't like the cut she just doesn't know my hair and therefore she put a bit to much texture in where I have a cowlick and not I'm constantly trying to keep those pieces from sticking up. You ask why did I cheat? Well I bought a gift certificate for 51% off the price of the service. So I cheated to save a few bucks.  Don't lie you would do the same thing!!

*I started doing the Insanity workout (Thanks Mo) I did my 1st workout yesterday morning and it is intense.  And because I was stressed and feeling like a fatty I did the warm-up and stretching section again...INSANE  Today not too too sore but can definitely feel my calves and hamstrings.

*Ali had asked a few posts ago what my job is and so I thought today would be a good time to address it.  I work for Curves (yes the women workout place).  I manage 2 locations (each location is individually owned and operated, my boss owns a total of 3).  I work 3 days a week, Mon, Wed and Fri usually around 9.5-10hrs on those days at both locations.  This way I get to spend 2 solid days with my boy and play cleaning lady, grocery getter and meal maker.

*We are 36 days away from the 1st day of the spring. Although living in the midwest that means nothing to us as it's been known to snow into late March early April.  Wow....if that wasn't a bubble burster?

*Ian's current fav book:

this was Ian's vday present last year from his Gram E and PaPa Jim

*Speaking of Ian he is up to taking about 4 steps solidly.  He worked on that 4th step with my Nana and Poppy when he got to spend the day with them on Wednesday.  Not sure who slept better that night him or them but he slept through the night.

Now that I have just wasted about 3min or your time that you will never get back I hope everyone has a great weekend.  It's suppose to be in the 30's here which means the area college students will be breaking out their flip flops.

lately

Blogger is being nutso and having issues uploading pictures. The pictures of our trip to the pumpkin patch and Ian in all his adorableness painting his pumpkin. So till they upload you'll have to deal with a pictureless, boring, random post. You're intrigued aren't you? If you close out right now I don't blame you one bit. If you are looking for something to keep yourself from working, doing laundry, house chores I'm sure you can find something way more entertaining than what is below. But if you insist then go on and read below but you were warned.

Honestly, there has been a whole lot of nothing new going on around here. Marcus has been working diligently on getting his jeep to become his daily driver. Which is one step closer to completing our plan. The fire academy is also going well, he comes home in a better mood after working and then going class till 10p then he does when he just goes to work. So between classes 2x a week and the jeep we have seen very little of each other. Our goal throughout the week is to simply make it through the week. Hoping for a date night sometime soon, it's been since our anniversary in August that we have gone out or actually done anything together just the 2 of us.

Bookworm: A friend had a brilliant idea to start a book club and when I told Marcus he offered to order me a pocket protector. But seriously I do enjoy reading and in the past my sister and I would read the same book just not at the same time. So while one of us has just finished the other is already onto another book and it makes it difficult to discuss. Book club makes discussing so much easier. Last month we read the book The Help which has been on the New York Best Sellers list for over a year, it's good. This month we are reading The Island which is also good. I'm trying to conserve the last 70pgs so I can finish closer to our next gathering next week. Yes, we do talk about the book but we also catch up on what has happened in the last month, about our kiddos over a few bottles of wine. And I can now indulge in some of that wine as well, so girls the challenge is out there. Will you convert me to a wine-o???

Chicago: if you recall I had to go to Chicago for work and that meant leaving my baby boy behind for the very first stinkin' time. I survived and only called 2x (once on Friday night and once on Saturday morning). On Saturday our convention got done a 1/2hr early and my boss gave me money so I could stop and get something to eat on my way home. I decided against stopping and headed straight towards the tollroad (which how can anyone navi-guess through Chicago without a GPS system?) so I could get home to my 2 favorite men. Ian ended up staying Friday night at my in-laws (Marcus was working on the Jeep). In my mind I pictured Ian's first night away from home with Marcus and I going out to dinner or getting take out, watching a movie and then sleeping IN. I guess we'll have to try that for another time, although that means we need to send the dogs away as well. Because well around 6:45 they start getting antsy and by 7 they are turning in circles in front of our bedroom door awaiting for someone to let them out and feed them. Which means sleep is disturb and that means sleeping in would not occur. We'll have to work something out and I'm sure we will.

Congrats, if you made it to this point then you have successfully wasted about 5min of your time. Thanks!!

mirror mirror on the wall...

who are you and what did you do to me? I was in the fitting rooms at Macy's this past weekend and took in a pair of jeans with me. I went in with the intentions of seeing what size I was in as all my pants, shorts, and skirts all come off without unbuttoning and have to have a belt or else I risk lookin' like a fool with my pants down. I tried them on and wouldn't you know I loved them, they fit great and were comfy and of course not on sale. Which translate to they are not going home with me. While in the fitting room I was looking in the mirror and thought there is no way that is me in that mirror. As we were missing some curves that appear in my mirror at home.

I'm pretty sure department stores have special make you look skinny mirrors. As we have all been there we have tried something on looked in the mirror and loved the way it looked so we buy it. Get home, try it on and look in our mirror in disgust and try to figure what the hey happened between the fitting room, purchasing, driving home and trying it on again. My mom was in the fitting room across the hall so as I discussed this with her via our seperate rooms I could hear all the other ladies in the fitting room area saying "yeah" and giggling. Which I called them all out on which resulted in more laughter. This post was by far pointless and you have just wasted about 30 seconds of your life. Your welcome!!

foursquare

Alright if your on facebook then you may have seen some of your friends posts that they have checked in somewhere it's called foursquare. Now, I'm trying to figure out the purpose of this tracking app. as I feel like I'm following a UPS package, but alas it's a real person that is being tracked.

By being on FB we are already putting ourselves out there. We have all seen the news someone posts "headed to the concert" and someone sees this knows where they live and yep they break in. So now with foursquare someone could do some major tracking and be able to figure out your daily routine know exactly where you work, workout, eat, shop, etc and before you know it you are a victim. Because not only does foursquare say you've arrived somewhere but they also supply you with a map with your said location.

What are your thoughts on this human tracking app?

Friday Frenzy

What better way to end another week than with randomness.

*Jay over at Play's With Sirens is a fireman and any week when the guys have to work Mon, Wed, Fri they refer to it as hell week (yep, I said hell it's my blog and it's allowed cause I said so). Well I work hell week every week, what was I thinking?!?!

*Ian finally decided to show us what he can do and rolled over at our house I witness the roll in the morning and Marcus got witness that same night. I also got it on camera and in attempts to upload everything from the camera to the computer to a flash drive it didn't make the transfer and got deleted. I have since been waiting for a performance for the camera.

*Work has been work and we'll leave it at that. I am looking into other avenues though but nothing concrete. Marcus is also looking at different options. So if you pray and your prayer list is a little short the Z's could use some.

*We leave for San Diego in 25 days (whose counting?) and my sister has been looking at the weather and well folks we will be layering!!! Our goal is to each pack in carry-ons. It's going to take some planning and rolling. I'm thinking I will arm my parents with coupons and some cash to get diapers and food for Ian before we arrive. We are also trying not to have a jam packed schedule while were there either it is a vacation so we do want to do some relaxing. And of course workout as we will be doing some great eating!!

*Groupon, has anyone seen the deals they have on there?? Everyday I get a new one for the San Diego area in my inbox. For things that you may normally not think to do while there.

*there is serious thought going into starting P90x this fall, gotta get ready for swimsuit season next summer. (you can never start too early right?)

*Only a few days and we will find out if in fact Ali has found her lover boy or if she says bye to both Roberto and Chris. I have heard rumors that she is still single and choose no one. I do like Chris so if those rumors are in fact rumors I do hope Chris is her lover boy.

*pictures will be coming soon. A new camera is on order, although the only color they had left to order was orchid. Marcus is still a little unsure about it he keeps calling it pink and I keep reminding him it's orchid and it's a good deal, so get over it!!

Have a great weekend, we (I use the term very losely) are going to continue to work on finishing the basement although I did just ask for a pull up bar to be installed so it probably doesn't help that I keep adding things to the list. Oh well...

non-sense

Bunch of non-sense and ramblings of the past few weeks.

*our camera fell in the pool, don't ask why or how just be sad for me. Thanks

*Father's Day Weekend: my sis in-law and her hubby came to town and they were to stay w/my in-laws. Well Mother Nature had other plans and huge storm came through leaving us in the dark for about 3hrs Friday night (with 6 people, 1 baby and 4 dogs in our house) and my in-laws without power for about 48hrs. My parents were without power for over 72hrs (they have a big generator and didn't risk losing any freezer food or use of the potty). Back to the weekend though, since A)we live in the city and have city water we can use as much as we want and our water heater is gas (BONUS), B)my in-laws live in the county and have a well and septic meaning they can't use their water or if they do they have limited flushes. That translate to us being the sole entertainers for the weekend. So on Friday, Saturday and Sunday we feed and entertained 6 people, 1 baby and 4 dogs...that translate into exhaustion and a very dirty house!!!

*Since my in laws didn't have power or a generator we got their ice cream!!!

*Since we were entertaining Marcus didn't get the Father's Day we had pl which was doing a whole lot of nothing but relaxing instead we did the exact opposite Ian and I got him some exhaust something or other for the Jeep. So meaningful...Ian did make a craft at the sitters the picture of it is sitting on the other camera.

*To escape some of the madness the entertaining weekend I took a spinning class Saturday morning which allowed me to have "me time" and gain some sore butt bones.

*I turned another year older Tuesday (june 8th) we celebrated it and my sister being in town at Olive Garden. Marcus and Ian presented me my push/b-day gift, Ian's birthstone. My parents got me a new bikini top. No, they don't expect to run around bottomless I'm using some of my b-day money to get new bottoms the top is just super pricey but very cute and comfortable. My sister gave me 13.1 miles, she paid the registration fee for the 1/2 marathon I ran. Thanks much family love you guys!

*We had another storm pass through Wednesday night we were under a tornado watch and like any normal person when the TV people said head down to your basement, I pulled up the blinds and looked out and then raced around doing things in case we lost power. We didn't lose power and no tornado's came through I did have clean floors and dishes though.

*this is the one time of year there is no disagreement over the covers. Despite the 70 degree temps at night and 80 something % humidity I sleep with all the covers on a and 1 leg out of the covers. Crazy I know

*On Wednesday at work we had to call 911 for the fire department to inspect the smoke we were smelling and today we had to 911 for the police to get a report of a attempted vehicle break-in. These things both happened before 8am.

what's the rush?

What is it as soon as you do this:

People ask when are you gonna do this:

and then not even 6wks later they ask when you're gonna do this:

rolled into one

My thoughts this past few days all rolled into one post.

*I haven't had a drop of an adult beverage in over a year (yep a year) and don't intend to until I'm done pumping which will be when we have 3mos worth of milk in our freezer. We currently have 1mos and 2 days in the freezer...we're getting there 1 pump at a time. Should have 3mos worth before the holiday's roll around again...I hope.

*I live life in 3hr segments...that's the time in between pumping and feedings. Although Ian is becoming more of a every 5hr eater. I'm still every 4hrs until my 3rd pump of the day which is usually around 2 then I don't pump again till right before bed.

*I am exiting week 11 of training and I can't be more excited about that. I'm looking forward to taper week. Taper week was always my favorite in swimming and well it also meant we were closer to being able to shave.

*My cousin will be a senior next year at Penn, and his brother (my other cousin) will be entering Penn as a freshman, where does the time go??

*this week was a success with the grocery budget

*I'm going to learn how to drive the jeep...watch out. Last time I tried (forced) to learn I flooded it and we were stuck in a parking lot for an hour while it settled down. This time I want to learn so hopefully the incident won't repeat itself.

*My sister will be here in a week!!

Monday, March 29, 2010

this is all you get

Points, because I can't wrap my mind around any one thing at the moment.

*We swaddle Ian but in the middle of the night he'll wake up and I'll check on him and his head and face are cold. Poor baby, we are going to have crank the heat up for him.

*It's suppose to get into the high 60's this week and that excites me. We need some warmer temps although this means some people are going to breaking out the sandals without getting a pedi first.

*Ian gets to celebrate his 1st Easter and we're getting him a basket of breast milk actually scratch the basket he has a whole deep freezer full of milk just for him.

*Speaking of milk only 37 wks left of pumping which also excites but also saddens me because that means our lil guy will be 1. GAAH...I can't think like that so I won't.

*Aunt CiCi's coming to visit in June which means we will start swim lessons, so she'll only be here for a few days it will get us started and she can teach me what i need to do with him. I have given swim lessons to older kiddies but not ones who can't sit on there own yet or talk back,mmmm...I think I could like this.

*Only 10wks left till the 1/2 marathon that I have yet to register for.

*This week we have to tackle our childcare issue. Today Ian is spending the day with my grandma as my grandpa had to go work the corn fields. Although he did invite Ian to ride some piece of farm equipment and Ian's response was filling up a diaper for him:)

*I also have to go bra shopping once again, it seems I have leveled out. Dreading this again. Although I did try on all my swimsuits and we are good in that department.

There you go, a little glimpse into what is happening in my mind today. Which, ever since giving birth my mind is all over the place and you can completely toss the idea of having a memory or time mangement abilities out the window cause well I'm pretty sure I delivered that as well.

Monday, March 22, 2010

up and coming

*2mos shots (I know I'm late in getting these this is the soonest they could get us in)

*a trip to goodwill, I transitioned my clothes this weekend out with the sweaters and in with the tank tops, shorts and skirts. Which also means goodwill is getting some great outdated stuff. Is it bad that I still have clothes from highschool? I can still fit into them they just aren't very fashionable anymore.

*Easter which means a trip down to Indy

*we will have a 3mos old living with us

*flowers and plants which I know really nothing about will be popping up

*work in SB is moving locations (we've been kicked out of our current location as they are probably going to demo it)

*1/2 marathon is just 11 short weeks away

*budget, Marcus and I will soon be sitting down and working out a budget so our debt can disappear and we can start saving a down payment for our next house

*now that spring has arrived, home improvement projects will be put back on the to do list.

Just a few of things that will be happening in the coming weeks. Some I look forward too while others I could pass on.

Saturday, March 13, 2010

points

It's been awhile since there's been any randomness so here goes.

*I went an entire week without witnessing anything that left me speechless while driving. I did have a close call yesterday with another lip locking while driving couple but they were able to contain themselves.

*I thought I had figured out how have Ian sleeping through the night but my plan backfired last night. But the night before I gave him his normal bottle and then 2hrs later gave him a half bottle and he slept from 10:15-5. Did the same thing last night and no such luck. O well try again tonight.

*Just realized that our house is missing something that other people would consider to a staple item and that is a coffee maker. Now that doesn't mean Marcus and I are coffee snobs and only drink Starbucks we are the exact opposite in that we don't drink coffee at all. I've never had a hot cup of coffee and neither has Marcus. Now, about 4yrs ago I would get a cold something from Starbucks but only every once in a while. But I start my morning off with at least 2 bottles of water.

*Everyday when I leave for work I get real nervous as the neighbor drives this:

No big deal right it's just a brand new Lexus. Well the problem comes in because our driveways are attached, yep we live in the city. My nervousness comes into play because when I back out I basically have to drive in our grass to avoid getting to close to make all the lights on her car from going off. And once I get past her car I then have to deal with this:

Her fiance's car. So before I even get out of the driveway I'm all tense and in need of a massage. Luckily I have made it out just fine every time only making the lights go off on the girls car about a dozen times. oops.

*Remember how last week we saw the sun everyday for 8 days well it's gone now and it's raining. Which means spring is just around the corner. YAY!!

*GAH...mother's day will be here before you know it. Which also means Marcus' b-day will be here too (May 8th). I went out this past week to see what's out there and some ideas for my mom. It's tough to buy for someone who when they want something they go and get it. Now, for Marcus because his b-day always lands near mother's day I'm going to try and celebrate his b-day for the whole week by making each day about him and make his favorite meals or get take out from his favorite restaurants and what not. We'll see I may throw that idea completely out the window. We are on a budget and I'm not sure how much is in the celebrating department.

*It looks like in August we will be taking Ian on his first plane ride to San Diego. My dad has union stuff to do and we (my mom, sister, Marcus, Ian and myself) will tag along we are his entourage. 2yrs ago we all went to Vegas (minus Ian) which all of us except for Marcus had been there so we did a lot of "you gotta see that and this". But for San Diego none of us have been there so we will be doing lots of exploring and my sister and I finally get to mark California off our list of states we have yet to visit I think only 16 or 17 more to go and we've been to all 50.

*What do you all think about Alli being the next bachlorette? Was that her intentions for leaving in the first place, to cause drama and we all know how ABC likes drama? I intend on watching even though every season doesn't go the way I think it should. I admit I'm a sucker for reality TV, what can I say.

Well I think that is enough randomness and ramblings for 1 day.

Ramblings

*Never thought I would have poop on my hand by yes it happened today I was changing Ian and he apparently wasn't done with his business when poop came flying out and my hand was there to catch it. Lovely, I laughed and said never thought I would hve that happen or even laugh about it.

*At bathtime normally when I put Ian in his tub he squirms and squeals a bit but not this time. I'd say he thoroughly enjoyed bathtime.

*I can't wait for some warmer weather. When I can slip on a pair of jeans, a shirt and a pair of sandals (not first w/o a pedi though)

*I love the 2 days where it's just Ian and me. Oh and when daddy comes home to join us for lunch.

*I find it funny that sometimes after Ian lets out a stinky (even though they don't stink they will eventually) he gets a big ole smile across his face.

*I have determined that it's a good sign you've been talking to customer service people to long when you call to update your hubby on the situation that instead of saying I love you at the end of the convo that you say thank you. oops sorry Marcus I do love you:)

*crockpots/slow cookers are 1 of the greatest inventions.

*The 1 thing I look forward too about the Sunday paper is the Target ad. I save it for last when I look through the ads. And on Monday's I can't wait to see the Martin's ad.

*Yikes we have yet to put a single picture of Ian around our house. Maybe this week yet.

*Health Insurance is a necessary evil...so annoyed.

*I have bangs!!!! YIKES what did I just do!
